Scouts (10.5-14)

Scouts are young people (both boys and girls) aged between 10.5 and 14 years old.

Although most of our Scouts join us from Cubs, we can take new members throughout the Scout age range (subject to the availability of spaces). At 14 years old, Scouts move up to the Explorer Scout Section, in Portishead this is Kilkenny and fall under Gordano District Scouts.

Our Scouts participate in a range of activities, from Abseiling to Zorbing, crafts to climbing, and also “Every Day Skills”. The Scouts are encouraged to have a say in designing their own programme and can earn a variety of challenge and activity badges.

These awards cover many hobbies including drama, music, IT, martial arts, sports and craft.

A key part of the Scouting Programme is outdoor adventure, and Scouts learn a huge range of skills including camping, cooking, bushcraft and teamwork. Our Scouts also take part in an active programme of camps and residential trips.

If you ever wanted to try something new Scouting is for you! – and every day skills are so important, we all have skills, come and help us show our scouts your skill!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
